These are a few magazine layouts that have interested me in particular, I will go through and criticse what i dislike and like about them:

This is an interesting layout for a magazine cover because it focuses on a main point and just by taking a single glance at it you can tell what type of magazine it is and who it is aimed at. The band at the front show us that it is a music magazine and the little titles at the bottom show the audience what is included on the inside. I hope to copy a layout similar to this because i think it is effective in the fact how it draws your attention to the intended audience by taking a single glance at it.

This magazine once again is using a similar technique as the one above it because it uses the pop stars to take up most of the space of the front cover, this is atleast 2/3 of the page. The simplicity is made evident in this one by the use of very minimal wording. Although it has proved effective for advertising a magazine, i will use abit more wording, something similar to that of the top one beacuse this magazine is just a little bit too plain for my liking.

This magazine is the 1st example of using sex appeal to draw in readers. The very feminine pose of the model grabs the attention of passers by and so is very effective being displayed at the front. I like this techique preferabably because it uses it a celebrity to reinforces the magazines issues. This is what i intend to do aswel. Infact i like this idea of using celebrity status to appeal to readers so much that i aim to replicate it in a similar fashion.


This magazine has the 2/3 page layout once more, it has quite alot of written information about the magazine and what it contains on the inside. I aim to use roughly about the same amount of written text on my front cover. I like the star symbol at the bottom and i think will be very good and creating a space to put the freebies of my magazine in :)

In conclusion, i am pleased with the overall 2/3 ratio of the magazine covers and will aim to repliacte this to produce a front cover of my own pfrofessionalism. I aim to produce a cover that has a celebrity pose taking up 2/3 of the page with some written text to hint out what the magazine contains. I will also use my reseach in formation on consumer needs to make the magazine specific to waht the readers want. I will use my information gathered from my questionnaire.
